Greenville-Spartanburg, SC-area roofing contractor Ken Reeves has a big heart. So when a local veteran needed a new roof, Reeves was more than ready to help.

Reeves, owner of Reeves Construction in Spartanburg, SC, worked in cooperation with the Golden Corner Chapter of Purple Heart Homes, a nonprofit that provides safe and accessible barrier-free home environments for disabled veterans.

The recipient was disabled Army veteran Diana Cox, whose manufactured home in Greenville, SC, had a leaky roof, among other livability issues.

Reeves put out a call for a donation of 18 squares of shingles and Atlas Roofing jumped in to help. The roof was installed in early May 2016 and Reeves’ crew completed the job in a day.

“Atlas is well known for its generosity,” said Reeves.

In addition to Reeves, other contractors and volunteers gave Cox’s home a nearly complete makeover, including replacing the floors, remodeling one of the bathrooms, renovating the kitchen and building an exterior wheelchair ramp.

As roofers across the nation observed National Roofing Week, which takes place each summer, Atlas Roofing celebrated the good deeds of contractors like Ken Reeves.
