Even the smallest details, if not done properly, can lead to major problems down the road for homeowners and their roofs.

In the third episode of our “Hammer Time” video series, Paul Casseri, product manager for Atlas Roofing, covers the most common nailing mistakes that roofers make when installing asphalt shingles.

Using Atlas Roofing’s Pinnacle® Pristine architectural shingles with Scotchgard™ Protector, Paul explains how nailing too low or too high may cause leaks and void the roofing shingle warranty.

He then demonstrates how Atlas makes hitting the common bond area easier with its 1½-inch Sweet Spot™ nailing area. Other roofing manufacturers use chalk lines, which can fade. But with the Atlas Sweet Spot, installers can get nails in the right place every time, keeping shingles in place and preventing blow-offs.

Watch the video to see and hear more about the guidelines for proper nailing.
