ATLANTA, Jan. 23, 2019 — Atlas Roofing Corporation is pleased to announce its sponsorship of National Women in Roofing (NWIR), an organization dedicated to revisioning women’s position and degree of influence in the roofing industry, and of the organization’s national event as part of the 2019 International Roofing Expo (IRE).

Women make up less than 2 percent of roofing professionals in the United States. NWIR and its business partners — including Atlas Roofing — are working to increase that number.

“We’re thrilled to sponsor National Women in Roofing,” says Stan Bastek, director of marketing and sales development for Atlas Roofing. “NWIR is a game-changing organization, one that works tirelessly to promote women’s participation in roofing. Atlas is proud to support and be a voice for the women in our industry, and we will do whatever we can to foster their growth and success and inspire more women to pursue careers in the field.”

Tiara Searcy, digital marketing and technology specialist for Atlas, is especially excited about the opportunity to work with NWIR.

“As a woman working in roofing, I’m happy to see that our company is proactively encouraging more women to get involved in the field,” Searcy says. “There are so many opportunities for women to excel and advance in this industry — from working on the manufacturing side, as I do, to being a general contractor to heading up an organization like NWIR.”

Sponsorships such as the one with Atlas provide a larger platform from which NWIR can share its mission.

“We are incredibly grateful for Atlas and its efforts to champion the empowerment of women in the roofing industry,” says Shari Carlozzi, NWIR chair and director of safety services at WTI, a service subsidiary of Tremco Roofing and Building Maintenance.

A volunteer-based organization, NWIR connects and empowers women at all career levels, from young professionals to seasoned managers in the executive suite.

As part of its efforts, NWIR will host its second annual National Women in Roofing Day on Feb. 9 in Nashville, TN, preceding the 2019 International Roofing Expo (IRE) that starts Feb. 11. Atlas Roofing is excited to be a platinum sponsor of this year.

NWIR Day focuses on empowering women from all facets of the roofing industry through educational sessions, discussions and professional networking opportunities. The theme for 2019 is “Building Better Together.”

Contractor Sherry Holmes, co-host of DIY Network’s Holmes Next Generation, will be the event’s keynote speaker. Holmes is the daughter of professional contractor and TV host Mike Holmes, with whom she has been working since she was 16. She supports and mentors other women in skilled trades and serves as an ambassador for Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build.
